What’s Cooking

Hello! What's going on guys? Nothing too crazy happening around here. Let’s see, Veterans day happened and I must’ve gone to six restaurants that day, lol. Thank you for all of your appreciation posts, It was an honor to serve.

We also took a lil road trip to see the Bears play this past weekend in Atlanta. Die hard Chicago Bears fan here, lol! I remember when I was very little my great granny would let me stay up to watch the late games with her, basketball ( Chicago bulls) and football (Bears). I guess that’s how my sports obsession began. Even though we lost on Sunday, whomp whomp lol, a good time was had! To further soothe the loss It's Thanksgiving week! And of course, that holds different meanings for many people but one thing we can all agree on is, it's the best food holiday and the best football day 😄 ...at least that's what it means for me.

Leading up to Thanksgiving day, the week of Thanksgiving, I do not cook. This has become somewhat of a ritual in my household and my family just lives for this week because it means eating out or ordering in for 4 days, lol! I live for it too, just for a different reason, which is, rest. I get to preserve all of my energy for the big day, trust me when I say I need it...every year. 😄

It goes down in my kitchen! I'm a pretty good cook, ok I was being modest, I'm a damn good cook, lol. I prepare everything from scratch from my cornbread dressing right down to my most requested cheesecake dessert. I'll be in the kitchen whipping up greens, beans, potatoes, tomatoes! You name it! Jk, not really. 😄

I really go traditional for Thanksgiving as opposed to Christmas. On the menu we have:

•Cornbread Dressing

•Mac & Cheese

•Greens

•Smothered Cabbage

•Candied Yams

•Deviled Eggs

•Ham

•Turkey

• Mashed Potatoes

•Smothered Turkey Wings

•Rolls

•Potato Salad

•Cheesecake (Strawberry & original)

Whew, I'm already tired by looking at this list, lol. In recent years I've started prepping my meals the night before Thanksgiving and that alone has really helped me. I'll chop up all my ingredients i.e celery, onions, bell peppers etc. and I also bake my cornbread for the dressing (stuffing) the night before. The only item I fully prepare the day before Thanksgiving is my cheesecake, it needs time to set and that's one less thing I have to prepare the next day. I think I'll add the deviled eggs to this list too, we'll see. 😉

Any tips, tricks? What are some of the things you do to prepare for Thanksgiving? What rituals? If any. I will say it's going to be different for us this year, we normally rent a cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee every Thanksgiving. It'll be a lil different this year but one thing will be the same, we'll all be together. Togetherness, that's what it's about right? ❤️ Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Whatever that means to you. 🤗

Till next time. Later readers. 😊
