Are You Well?

It's a new year! Welcome, 2023! Now that we got that out of the way, let's get serious.

Wellness check. Have you scheduled yours yet?

I've always scheduled an appointment for myself at the beginning of every year. When I was in the military it was done for me. I guess it just kinda stuck and became ritualistic.

Some years ago I had a cancer scare so it was highly prevalent that this was done. Now that I've just joined the 40 club it's even more of a necessity.

We wanna make sure we're getting those screenings done for cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, and weight. Dental checkups at least twice a year and eye exams, cause let's face it we're getting older, lol.

Mammograms for women 45 or older, younger if there's a history or if you've presented risk factors.

Men in your 50s, you want to make sure you get that prostate exam done. Yes, yes I’ve heard it's not the most pleasant exam but, what's the alternative? 🤷🏾‍♀️

Checking your prostate is even more important for African American men because there is a higher risk for prostate cancer in our men. Get this done at age 45.

There's also the controversial colonic. This is not for everyone, do your research. The benefits of a yearly colonic for me don't quite out way the risks but it has been effective. *Do your research*

Not only are you removing harmful toxins and waste from your body, but it's also said to improve your immune system and boost energy. As a bonus, it might shave a few pounds off your body weight if you're into that sort of thing, lol. 😉

Last but not least colonoscopies for everyone, lol! 🎉

Yes women for us too, lol. For men and women in their 40s, colonoscopies are a must.

Young or old at the end of the day we can all agree it's about longevity. Let's take care of those bodies and minds. Happy New Year everyone! I pray it's a blessed one.

Till next time, later readers. 😊
